Professor Charles Ombuki is a Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics, Machakos University. He holds PhD in Economics (JNU), Master of Arts in Economics (KU) and Bachelor of Education (Arts, KU).

He is a trainer, an academic mentor, researcher and knowledge disseminator. His key competences include: Policy formulation, research formulation and execution, Planning, monitoring and evaluation, facilitating management trainings, academic writings and publications. Areas of research interest include; Policy shift and impact on Macro variables, Agriculture and the economy, Education financing and access, Labour Economics among others.

Current ongoing research work is on “Devolved Units and Private Sector Economic Activities; Towards Creating an Enabling Environment for the Private Sector in Kenya”. Professor Ombuki has supervised several PhD and Masters students to completion and has published widely in peer refereed journals. Currently, he is also serving as the Dean of School of Business, Economics, Hospitality and Tourism Management at Machakos University.
